NEET 2025 Exam: A Student’s Perspective - ALLENCLASSES

NEET 2025 Exam: A Student’s Perspective

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 was more than just an exam; it was a journey filled with determination, anxiety, perseverance, and reflection. Appearing for NEET means more than testing knowledge—it’s about mental strength, time management, and staying calm under pressure. As a student who sat for the NEET 2025 exam, I want to share a personal, detailed look at how the exam unfolded, what challenges it posed, and how it made me stronger.

Before the Exam: The Build-Up

For months, NEET had been the centerpiece of our lives. Countless mock tests, marathon study sessions, revision plans, and missed social events—all for one goal. NEET 2025 held immense weight, especially with increasing competition and high cutoffs in recent years. With nearly 24 lakh aspirants this year, the intensity was higher than ever.

In the final week, nervousness began to peak. Despite thorough preparation, doubts crept in: What if I forget formulas? What if I panic? What if the paper is too tough? But alongside that fear was the hope that all our efforts would pay off.

Exam Day: The Moment of Truth

On 5th May 2025, the day began early. After revising key formulas, I reached the center with my admit card and ID in hand. The security process was tight, and mobile phones weren’t allowed inside. As I sat at my desk, waiting for the 2:00 PM signal, my heart raced.

Once the paper was distributed, silence filled the hall—and the real battle began.

Overall Paper Pattern

NEET 2025 followed the expected format with some changes:

  • Total Questions: 200 (180 to be attempted)

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology

  • Sections: Each subject had two sections—Section A (35 questions) and Section B (15 questions, attempt any 10)

  • Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes (200 minutes)

  • Marking Scheme: +4 for correct answer, -1 for wrong answer

Subject-Wise Analysis

1. Physics

Difficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult

Physics, often the most feared subject, stayed true to its reputation. This year, the focus shifted more towards numericals than theoretical questions. Topics like Modern Physics, Current Electricity, and Mechanics dominated the paper.

Key Observations:

  • Around 60–70% questions were numericals, requiring careful calculations.

  • NCERT concepts were helpful, but application-based understanding was essential.

  • Many students found Section B trickier with a few multi-step problems.

Personal Experience:
I struggled with time in Physics. One question from Thermodynamics was especially lengthy. Despite preparing well, I had to guess a couple of answers due to time pressure. It reminded me how crucial speed and accuracy are in Physics.

2. Chemistry

Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate

Chemistry was surprisingly student-friendly. Most questions were directly from NCERT, especially in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. Physical Chemistry had straightforward numericals.

Key Observations:

  • Organic Chemistry was concept-based but predictable.

  • Physical Chemistry questions were formula-based and easy to solve.

  • Inorganic Chemistry heavily relied on NCERT language.

Personal Experience:
This was my strongest section. I completed Chemistry in under 40 minutes and felt confident about my answers. Regular NCERT revisions paid off. A question from the Coordination Compounds chapter was almost identical to one in our mock test.

3. Botany

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Botany had a balanced mix of theory and application. Some tricky questions were asked from lesser-focused areas like Ecology and Plant Physiology.

Key Observations:

  • About 70% of the questions were from NCERT, but asked in twisted formats.

  • Diagrams-based questions appeared more frequently this year.

  • A few questions confused students by using indirect language.

Personal Experience:
I found a question from the chapter “Plant Growth and Development” particularly confusing. Although I had studied the topic, the options were too similar. I marked my answer carefully, but I wasn’t entirely sure. In the end, I felt this section required better comprehension skills than just memory.

4. Zoology

Difficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult

Zoology, like Botany, was mostly NCERT-based but had a few out-of-the-box questions. Human Physiology and Genetics formed the bulk of the questions.

Key Observations:

  • Some questions, especially in Human Reproduction, were complex and time-consuming.

  • Few factual questions tested very minute details from NCERT lines.

  • A couple of ambiguous options left students confused.

Personal Experience:
Zoology took more time than expected. One genetics question required punnett square logic and ate up nearly 3–4 minutes. It emphasized how every second is precious in the exam hall. I managed to finish, but barely had time to review my answers.

Time Management

This year’s paper tested not just knowledge but how well we managed time. Physics took the longest, followed by Zoology. Chemistry was a time-saver, and Botany was average. Most students I spoke to post-exam agreed that completing the paper within the allotted 200 minutes was challenging.

Emotional Rollercoaster

There’s no denying the emotional intensity of the NEET exam. As the clock ticked and questions became harder, I experienced moments of self-doubt. But I reminded myself of my training and remained focused.

At 5:20 PM, when the invigilator asked us to stop writing, a wave of relief—and uncertainty—hit me. Had I done enough? What if I lose out by just one question?

Post-Exam Reflection

After stepping out, discussions with friends started. “What did you mark for that physics question?”, “I think I made a silly mistake in Chemistry”—these conversations reflected how deeply we care. However, I reminded myself that overthinking won’t change the result.

Looking back, I feel proud. NEET 2025 was tough, yes. But it was also a testament to our grit and endurance.

Lessons Learned

  1. NCERT is Bible: Especially for Biology and Chemistry, NCERT preparation is non-negotiable.

  2. Mock Tests Are Crucial: They prepare us for real exam pressure and help manage time better.

  3. Don’t Ignore Physics: Many of us fear Physics, but ignoring it is not an option.

  4. Calm Mind Wins: Staying calm in the exam hall is as important as knowing the syllabus.

  5. Focus on Application: Rote learning isn’t enough—understanding concepts is key.

Conclusion

NEET 2025 wasn’t just an exam—it was a journey of discipline, focus, and mental strength. From filling the form to receiving the admit card, from revision plans to the final bell on exam day—it all shaped us.

For those aiming for NEET 2026, my message is this: start early, stay consistent, and trust your preparation. The road is tough, but so are you.

In the end, regardless of the result, I believe we’ve already won by enduring and learning through this process.
